Church House Steps

St Mary's Cathedral in Austin.

"Oh - I sat down upon the church house steps
With all my hopes and dreams
All of my regrets

Oh - I sat down upon the church house steps

With all I have lost
And with all I have been blessed
I sat down upon the church house steps

I reached to the sky
As I hung my head and wept
Oh - I wept

Oh - I sat down

If these wings should fail me
Won't you meet me with another pair"

Happy Thanksgiving

I grow more and more grateful for my family every year.
It is partly as I age, and a growing, rich, experience
of having experienced so much together.
An awareness of the ability to survive and grow,
through joy, loss, and the whole ride -- together.
It feels to me this is the original purpose of family,
whether chosen or not.

Love.
Sometimes it comes down to someone
simply making your favorite pie.
With Loving Hands.
From scratch.
Specifically for you.
And So It Is.

Look lovingly upon the present,
for it holds the only things that are forever true.

About Last Night

Deva Primal and Miten performed at
Unity Church of The Hills last night.

The show was great.
The crew was fantastic.
Here they are with the performers.
Lots of wonderful work went into the show,
and I was blessed to be a small part of it.
That, and wearing a headset, is fun.

Photos of signs

This could be a trend. A new niche photography. Photos of signs.
All with the cell phone, so forgive the quality.

This is metaphorical. It is also not as mysterious as some signs in the area such as
"Congestion" and "Rocks".

"If you don't play together
your life won't work."
~Emily, 3 1/2
No kiddin' Emily...

Refrigerator poetry.
"Linger and devour me please
Sing sacred the naked love
for a wild goddess."

A personal favorite - and inspiration for the post:
This sign was hanging
in the elementary school classroom where I teach.
"Wet Spot Here."
Guess those elementary school kids can't find the wet spot on their own.

The Great Creator

"We take no step unpartnered. We may feel like the fool from the Tarot deck, stepping heedlessly into blank space, but that is not reality. The Great Creator is an artist and he/she/it is an artist in partnership with other artists. The moment we open ourselves to making art, we simultaneously open ourselves to our maker. We are automatically partnered."
~Julia Cameron

Life Jackets

There are very important people in my life,
real friends - the ones that remember who I am
in the face of my challenges
who love me and get me and know me.
They understand not just the what, but the why and the how
of what I need and want to do -
and how hard it can be at times.
When I struggle, and feel like I can't swim on my own,
they don't save me,
they just throw me a life jacket
so I can float to shore when I'm tired of swimming alone.

This photo is for you.
The ones who know the truth in my story
who trust and understand my experience
and who love me.

Thank You.
You're a blessing.

Heceta Lighthouse

This is the Heceta Lighthouse at night.
I posted a shot of it during the day last week.
All that dark brown stuff on the beach?
Sea Lions.
Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of them.

Cell Phone Photography

I took this with a freekin' cell phone.
It may be better than all the shots I took with my fancy gear.
What a cruel joke to play on a photographer.
